MY RECORD BAG: SAM DG
Happy to welcome Social Hours Founder, Resident and former Set One Twenty Resident SAM DG to my record bag.
Sam’s journey first started with us here at Mint back at his days in university, He since gone on to forming the ever growing Social Hours which has welcomed Yoshi, Evan Baggs, Andrew James Gustav and Etienne to name a few.
Wicked selection from the young selector.
Over to Sam…
Sohrab – Tweaker
Easily the best release of 2019, I first heard Tweaker when Sohrab played it at an Undersound after-party last year. It blew me away, to say the least. We had him down at Wire in November and he rocked the place. He regularly sends me tracks he’s working on, definitely a name to watch out for.
Micawber – Yenbashu
This hasn’t left my bag since the day I bought it in my first year of University. If you’ve seen me play then it’s likely you’ve heard it. It’s hard to describe this record, but I’ll go with sinister.
Gemini – Rapid Eye Movement
Gemini on Peacefrog, it doesn’t get much better than that. Spencer Kincy is arguably one of the best to ever do it.
E8 – Cruise Control
Leaning towards the heavier side of my bag, this one comes from E8 on Marguerita Recordings. The whole EP bangs but this one definitely stands out. It’s worth checking out the label’s whole discography as your certain to come across some gems.
Rebirth – Pigs & Penguins
I think this is the most I’ve spent on a record, It’s 15 minutes of madness. The track completely changes half way through and you’ll start debating if you’re on a spaceship or still on planet earth.
